The Observer Fact Finder Work

 


PREP Start in class by downloading the 3 copies of The Observer from the OCR website and save to your folder 02 NEWS on your desktop
1. Find one example of the representation of a woman and say how she is represented.
2. Find another contrasting example of a woman and say how she is represented
3. Find one example of a news story about the Cold War
4. Find one example of a story about a domestic disaster
5. Find one example of a story about a European disaster


 1. Most of the women are represented as to be interested in lingerie and not certain things like news this shows that the magazines that there are all women's lingerie and it is portraying that they are not interested in the news and portrayed to be a lot less civilised than men, this is rather sexist.

2.  Another  example of  women in those times is the picture of the queen when she is looking like angry and annoyed in the magazine this is all because of the way her facial expressions look, as she seems to have a frown on her face

the bad person in the second magazine as she has a darker face and she looks like she is frowning to either imply she is angry or the bad person in that specific magazine.
