Cuffs has adapted its police drama to be open to the family area of audiences, including children because of the way that if it is more open to the general public at a time when everyone is home, it is always going to be watched, making it bring in more revenue and become more popular. The aim of this question is to seek your definition of police drama conventions and how they have been adapted for a pre-watershed audience. Now the main way in which cuffs has adapted it’s drama to fit the family audience is through hiding gore and inappropriate images along with not using any rude or inappropriate terms. For example when a man gets stabbed by a racist, they do not show him getting stabbed or see blood, this is because they allow the more mature viewer to infer this whereas the children will very likely not even realise and will fly over their head. Not only this but the contexts of this cuffs series is all about how they try to use some stereo types, but not many as they want it to be more for the broader audience, along with it being made in this day and age, meaning that it has to reflect the opinion people have now to make it more viewable than it would be if it represented completely different ideas to the people of our time. Along with this in the scene with the nudists they do not show any genitals towards the screen to make it more available towards the younger people and the public eye.
In conclusion they have manipulated points in
the series, to make it be allowed for younger eyes to watch and view but it is
not completely removed as they still want it to appeal to older people in the
family, therefore they have done very well to keep the realistic part of
policing along with making it available to the younger audiences, by not
showing anything inappropriate therefor allowing it to keep its schedule and
broadcasting times. One final example would be the armed robbery, where they don't actually show any of the crimes but they have allowed for the adults to be able to tell what is going on
