Comparison of media language in MOJO and We Love Pop

The layout of MOJO is orderly. which connotes (=has associations of) that it is a very much serious magazine, with quite a lot of helpful information. It also suggests that older people because the design is quite simple which would be preferred by the older generations By contrast, the layout of We Love Pop is very busy. This connotates that they are trying to put as much information in as possible, and make it attractive and more popular to younger people as it is very colourful.

The typography of MOJO is orderly and strong which connotes that it’s a very much serious and impressional magazine that is modern and widely respected. By contrast, the  typography of We Love Pop is load and rather funky which connotes that it is to be taken as a fun magazine with less factual information and will allow more readers to take enjoyment out of the magazine.

 

The colour palette of MOJO is limited to a dark and bold colour which connotes power and strength. By making this they increase the power of the musician making them look more powerful and slightly God like. By contrast, the colour palette of We Love Pop is bright with colours like pink and yellow which are made more for younger people and is rather gossipy and is a lot less serious than mojo.



The language of MOJO emphasises knowledge and understanding whereas the language of We Love Pop is gossipy and uses a lot more slang. This allows you to tell the differences between what is going to appear on the inside of magazines and is easier to know what’s going to happen and is more factual than other information.
